I recently read on the pack of soyabean chunks dat soyabean has maximum amount of proteins as compared to other protein foods like meat and cereals....
I prepare a soyabean curry quite often.... and few times add it to the biryani aswell. I recently tried a soya pulao... it turned out so well so thought to share it on my blog. The recipe is very simple yet the end product is delicious....
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups Soya nuggets, soaked
- 1 1/4 cups Basmati rice, soaked
- 2 tbsp Oil
- 1 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
- 1 tsp Coriander powder
- 1/4 tsp Garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp Ginger, grated
- 1 Tomato, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup Green peas
- 1 1/2 tbsp Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp Fresh mint leaves, roughly chopped
- Salt to taste
Method:
- In a pan mix 2 cups water, Soya nuggets and 1 pinch salt and boil for 3-4 mins. Drain and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and saute till light brown.
- Drain water from the basmati rice and add to the cooker.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder, ginger, garam masala powder and mix well.
- Add soya nuggets, tomato, green peas, coriander leaves, mint leaves and salt. Mix well.
- Add 2 1/2 cups water and stir. Put the lid of the cooker and cook till 2-3 whistles. Then reduce heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.Open the lid after the steam is released .
