I just can't get over my love for coconut sweets.... i just keep luking for different recipes with coconut. I made
Rava coconut ladoo, then coconut mounds, and few more desserts with coconut. And to add to my love i recently saw a cookery show with a similar recipe of coconut candies. So i thought to try it...
and i made it yesterday and today when i am posting this recipe all the candies are over. I, my kids and my friends finished it....
These coconut candies are made with dessicated coconut powder, condensed milk, sugar and milk. For added flavour i have added cardamom powder and for colour i added edible orange colour. If one doesn't prefer to use colour just skip it and make white coconut candies.
Despite the yummy looking candies my son dint like its square shape, so for him i used half the mixture to make coconut ladoos. I am posting picture of the same.
Step by step recipe of coconut candies:
Ingredients:
- 180 gms dessicated Coconut powder
- 2 tbsp unsalted Butter
- 110 gms Sugar
- 100 ml Milk
- 160 gm Condensed milk
- Orange food colour
Method:
- In a non stick pan melt the butter. Once the butter melts turn off the gas and immediately add the sugar in the hot pan and stir. The sugar will melt because of the heat but if we turn on the gas the sugar will start caramelising.
- Now add milk and condensed milk, and return the pan to the gas stove. Turn on the flame and cook the mixture for 2-3 minutes.
- Now add the food colour, mix well and turn off the flame.
- In a greased cake tin or deep plate pour in the coconut mixture and level with the help of a spatula or spoon.
- Keep the tin in a refrigerator to set for about 1 hr. After an hour demould the cake tin.
Cut into desired shapes. Garnish with coconut powder and serve.
For the ladoos take the same mixture and roll them into small balls and then roll them on coconut powder.
