PALAK POORI



 Spinach or palak is considered to be a super food.....as it is loaded with tons of low calorie package. Spinach consumption helps in improving blood glucose levels, controlling diabetes, lowering blood pressure, lowering the risk of cancer, improving bone health, lowering the risk of developing asthma and more...
               Knowing all the great benefits of Spinach... still its becomes difficult at times to consume it.Especially feeding spinach to kids is a task in itself.... But palak poori is pack loaded with great nutrients in disguise...

                Palak or Spinach poori is a light unleavened bread which is made by adding blanched spinach puree and fried in deep fat.

Ingredients:

 1 cup Wheat flour or Atta

1 bunch of fresh spinach leaves

Oil

Salt to taste

1/2 tsp carom seeds or ajwain

Method:

1. First wash the spinach leaves thoroughly and roughly chop them. Then take 3 cups of water and boil it and add the spinach leaves into it. Let it boil for 4-5  mins. Turn off the heat and immediately tranfer the leaves to a bowl filled with cold water. Doing this will maintain the nice green colour of the leaves.

2. Then grind the spinach leaves in a blender without water. You the use the remaining water for making the dough

3. In a big bowl take the flour, salt, carom seeds, 1 tbsp oil and the spinach puree and make dough using water. 

4. The dough should not be soft like that of roties or chapathis. Rather it should be firm. Keep the dough to rest for 10 mins.

5. Now take a small lemon size part of the dough and make a small ball of it and flatten it between ur palms.

6. Now with the help of a rolling pin roll the dough in circles using few drops of oil. 

7. In a Kadai or deep Pan heat enough oil for frying. Carefully slide in the rolled poori in the hot oil. The poori will puff up instantly. Flip it carefully and cook from other side.
 Once fried take it out in an aborbent paper.

Enjoy the Spinach poori with Potato bhajji and Buttermilk.
